Starting on a garden pond

30.6.14: My summer vacation project will be a pond in the garden. After much consideration about flexible pond liners I decided to use a rigid pond liner for long-term trouble-free installation. Although it looks a bit black and plasticky, the edges will be fully planted with wetland plants and the edge will become green.

The point of this is to become a supporter of wildlife, and a pond will support frogs and birds mostly. Don't mention the mosquitoes!

The outline of the pond has been defined with sticks so that we can adapt our thoughts about it. It's important to get some sunlight on the pond so it cannot just be pushed up against the concrete wall at the south end because it would be shaded too long.
